On Saturday, August 9, 2008, during the opening of the Olympics, the Charleston Amnesty International Chapter sponsored the 2008 Human Rights Olympics on Folly Beach, SC.   All were welcomed to win great prizes from local sponsors and bronze, silver, and gold medals (homemade medals, of course!)  We had a great turnout of people who were supportive of the cause. Our purpose was to show the Chinese government that the Olympics can’t whitewash its human rights abuse.
